Police Officer

Job description We are seeking a police officer to join our team.Our department requires someone with a strong commitment to upholding the law, and we're interested in hiring individuals with a professional demeanor.While the successful candidate does not necessarily need to have directly worked in law enforcement, he or she will have a thorough understanding of police procedures and protocol.Responsibilities:Identify and arrest subjects who have committed a crime.Interpret laws and apply them in real time.Protect suspects, witnesses, and officers against abuse.Apprehend criminal suspects and place them in custody.Arrest violent or potentially violent suspects or those who have breached the peace.Enforce traffic laws and regulations such as traffic infractions that are misdemeanors or felonies.Investigate suspicious activity or conduct criminal investigations.Respond to police calls and emergency situations; present information accurately to court officials.Education and Experience Required:1.High School Diploma or equivalent.2.Iowa Law Enforcement Academy certification within 1 year of appointment.3.Pass MMPI, physical requirements and background check.For those officers not ILEA certified, HPD will contact you to schedule physical testing and P.O.S.T.testing.Housing requirements:All officers must live within 30 miles of Hampton city limits once training is completed.Along with a resume, applicants must go onto the City of Hampton website and complete the City of Hampton Application for Employment.Copy and paste the following link:chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.hamptonia.us/uploads/Editor/APPLICATION%20FINAL.pdf Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.Position will be open until filled.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$58,526.45 - $69,781.54 per year Benefits:Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Schedule:8 hour shift Work Location:In person.
