Job Description
JOB Bear Valley Community Services District is currently recruiting for full-time and part-time Police Officer Lateral/Trained positions. The ideal candidate will be a lateral transfer from another agency, or someone recently retired that is still interested in employment. Lateral Officer applicants must possess a valid "Basic" certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and be currently working or recently employed for a least one or more continuous years as a Police Officer or Sheriff's Deputy with another law enforcement agency. Only qualified candidates should apply.SALARY SCALE: Police Officer I - $2692 - $3436 biweeklyPolice Officer II - $2826 - 3607 biweeklyPolice Officer III - $2968 - $3788 biweeklySIGN ON BONUS: Full-time - $10,000 (1st payment of $5k within 30 days / 2nd payment of $5k after successful completion of probationary period (one-year) Part-time - $ 5,000 (1st payment of $2,500 within 30 days / 2nd payment of $2,500 after successful completion of 900 hours in a 12-month periodThis position is open until filled.JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs field and/or administrative police work in order to protect life and property by detecting and preventing the commission of crimes and enforcing laws and ordinances; may work in various special assignments as required; performs other related duties. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The following classifications of Police Officer are distinguished by the possession of a current and valid certificate issued by the State of California through the Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST): Based on experience, qualifying applicants would be placed under the specified level depicted below: Police Officer I: California Basic POST certificatePolice Officer II: California POST Intermediate certificate.Police Officer III: California POST Advanced certificate. Advanced classification does not vest supervisorial authority; it only indicates POST certification level. SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED: All duties are performed under the supervision of the Police Sergeant who reports to the Chief of Police. Police Officers I–III do not perform any supervision of any classification.
