POLICE OFFICER (Traffic/Heat Unit)

H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Officer The South Fulton Police Department Traffic Unit is currently accepting applicants for the H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Officer. These positions are designed for highly motivated officers dedicated to DUI detection and aggressive and distracted driving enforcement. Applicants must be willing to work primarily 6:00 PM 4:00 AM, with occasional schedule adjustments to 8:00 AM 6:00 PM as operational needs require. Essential Functions Enforce the traffic laws of the State of Georgia Focus on DUI enforcement and impaired driving investigations Enforce distracted driving violations Enforce seatbelt compliance Enforce child safety restraint laws Participate in monthly traffic safety details Work approximately 80% of assigned hours during nighttime shifts and weekends Travel to other jurisdictions to assist with vehicle checkpoints and traffic safety education events Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, a minimum of twenty-four (24) months of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer A satisfactory work performance history with a recommendation from current supervision Submission of a Letter of Interest detailing: Relevant law enforcement experience Interest in the H.E.A.T. Unit An explanation of why the applicant would be a good fit for the position.
