REQUIREMENTS (FULL TIME PERMANENT SWORN POSITION) Must have retired from RPD Retirement must have been in the last 5 years or still hold a current DCJS certification If still employed with RPD, must complete the DROP program before eligible Must be separated from the department for at least one pay cycle ASSIGNMENTS If returning in a full time role you will be assigned in a patrol capacity within the Department. BENEFITS You will come in at the step based on when you left. If you did 25 years it will be step 25, 27 or more and you will be placed in step 27 the highest step. If you elect the same defined benefit retirement plan your pension will be recalculated based on new salary Eligible to work off-duty and over time. After 9 months you are eligible for any promotional process Your monthly retirement benefits will stop upon your rehire. When you retire again, your monthly retirement will begin again. For sworn employees, you may elect the same or a different retirement plan/option upon rehire. The additional service and salary during the rehire period are used in the recalculation of your prior pension amount if you elect the same defined benefit retirement plan. For general employees hired or rehired after 6/2006, you are not eligible for the Defined Benefit Plan. This means that when you terminate after the re-employment period, your previous monthly retirement payment will begin again but there is no recalculation of your monthly retirement benefits. However, the benefits you earn during the re-employment period will be paid in accordance with the Defined Contribution Plan. Upon rehire, you are eligible for the same employee benefits that any other new hire in a full-time permanent position would receive. This includes all employee benefits including health and dental insurance, life insurance, Aflac Benefits, Legal Resources, Aflac Benefits, 457 Deferred Compensation, etc. Upon rehire, you are eligible to earn vacation and sick time. Your accrued time off will begin with 0 (zero) hours accrued and your crediting rate to earn time off will be the same as a new employee. Duties include but are not limited to Patrolling assigned city jurisdiction for traffic and other violations utilizing a variety of means of transportation including patrol car, motorcycle, bicycle, and horse Making traffic stops and intervening in other criminal activity Conducting general field services, including monitoring police radio and responding to citizen calls and complaints Obtaining and issuing warrants Marking and packaging evidence Processing crime scenes Investigating potential arson cases Providing surveillance Interviewing suspects and witnesses, and following-up with victims Fingerprinting and photographing suspects Conducting computer-generated searches to gather information on suspects Preparing for and participating in prosecution of cases in court Interacting with City and community agencies and groups Responding to citizen calls, complaints and requests for information Maintaining case files, data and preparing regular reports Other duties as assigned when needed Please check your e-mail regularly, as correspondence in reference to this recruitment will be e-mailed to you.
