Job Description
The Premium Accounting Administrator is responsible for managing and overseeing premium-related processes for individual and group insurance policies. This role ensures the timely and accurate collection, allocation, and reporting of premium payments, while supporting billing operations and financial compliance. The Administrator works closely with internal teams, external partners, and policyholders to resolve payment inquiries, maintain accurate records, and uphold service standards in a high-volume environment. Duties and Responsibilities Payment Processing & Billing: Process premium payments through multiple methods while ensuring compliance with billing schedules and payment terms. Financial Recordkeeping: Prepare and input cash receipts, disbursements, and general journal entries with accuracy. Premium Application: Record and apply premium payments for both individual and group policies. EFT Administration: Support the setup, maintenance, and accuracy of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) drafting for insurance premiums. Reporting & Compliance: Generate and distribute financial and operational reports on a scheduled basis, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory requirements. Customer & Agent Support: Respond to inquiries and provide assistance regarding billing, payments, and account status with professionalism. Cross Department Collaboration: Partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and maintain effective communication. Accuracy & Timeliness: Ensure all premium applications and related processes are completed within established timelines and quality standards. Qualifications and Skills Required: Prior experience in payment processing, premium accounting, or a financial services environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams). Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy under deadlines. Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills in a fastpaced environment. Clear verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting. Reliable, adaptable, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Ability to successfully pass a background check. Preferred: Experience in insurance accounting or premium billing functions. Familiarity with accounting systems or enterprise payment platforms. Education High School diploma or equivalent (GED) Work Environment Requirements Professional office environment with standard hours (MonFri, 8am5pm); occasional extended hours during peak times. Frequent use of computer, phone, and standard office equipment. Regular interaction with staff, leadership, and customers in a fastpaced, highvolume setting. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 15 pounds (e.g., supplies or equipment).
