We’re looking for an experienced chef to join our team at SoupSmith , operators of 2 of the stalls in Louisville’s Relish Food Hall & Pickleball facility. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new venture that combines high quality food, a vibrant environment, and the energy of an open kitchen. In this role, you’ll be responsible for prepping made from scratch menu items, breads, desserts, and soups, but you’ll also support our customer-facing team making made-to-order items in a dynamic, open-kitchen setting. About Us: We operate two food concepts at Relish, both of which aim to take fine-dining techniques and recipes and produce them in a more casual environment. Despite the fine dining details, we still deliver our final dishes to customers quickly: SoupSmith , serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a specialty in handcrafted soups. Salt & Vinegar , a charcuterie-style kitchen featuring high-end meats, cheeses, and premium shareables. What We are looking for: Full-time Flexible availability Experience and a positive attitude are must-haves What we are offering: Hourly wage + digital tips (approximately $8-$10 / hour added to the base wage) An opportunity to grow with a supportive team in the premier pickleball facility west of the Mississippi Complementary shift meals A learning focused environment with two very experienced chef mentors looking to build your skills Key Responsibilities: Follow prep lists and recipes from the Executive Chef Measure ingredients and prepare components for menu items Receive, store, and organize inventory efficiently Support chefs with day-to-day kitchen tasks and food prep Assemble plates and packaging for dine-in and takeaway orders Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen environment Interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner as needed in our open kitchen Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum of 2 years experience in a fast paced kitchen, fine dining a major plus Strong time management and communication skills Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team Physical Requirements: Stand for extended periods Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat and sharp tools Manual dexterity for slicing, chopping, and equipment handling Key Skills: Attention to detail Ability to work under pressure Organization and time management Adaptability in a fast-paced setting Cleanliness and sanitation awareness Customer service mindset Collaboration and communication with team and counter staff Hiring Process: Initial interview with the owners: 30 minutes - 1 hour Following a successful sit-down interview, candidates will be asked to work in the kitchen with our head chef for at least 2 hours. Candidates will be compensated for their time with a courtesy meal at the end of their working interview.
