Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Primary Counselor to provide integrated behavioral healthcare services for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based counseling services in both individual and group settings. This role supports a client-centered recovery program designed to empower individuals through comprehensive treatment, supportive services, and long-term recovery planning. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning in accordance with applicable licensure and certification standards. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for substance use, mental health, and trauma-related disorders. Facilitate individual counseling sessions, group therapy, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention services. Coordinate case management activities and connect clients with appropriate community resources and support services. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and effective treatment outcomes. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Support clients in developing healthy coping skills, recovery goals, housing stability, and overall wellness. Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development activities. Program Services Include Traditional and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Substance Use Disorder Treatment Mental Health and Trauma-Informed Care Supportive Housing Services Psychiatric and Medical Support Services Family and Community Support Services Job Readiness and Placement Assistance Qualifications Education Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related human services settings. Licensure/Certifications Required: LPC or LSW Preferred: LPCC or LISW Valid Driver’s License required. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and trauma-informed care practices. Strong counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management abilities.
