Job Description
Atlanta, Georgia A small Atlanta-based holding company is seeking a Principal to join as the second seat. The role spans three platforms held under common ownership: an early-stage software company in active rollout, a mixed-use commercial real estate property on a prominent intown corridor, and a forthcoming intown real estate syndication vehicle. The position carries real ownership, deal-level economics, and a defined path to general partner within three years. About the Platform The holding company operates three businesses, each at a different stage of maturity. The software business is a vertical SaaS product addressing a large, fragmented category in commercial real estate operations. The product is live, the unit economics are proven at the initial deployment, and the immediate priority is a disciplined rollout to the next several dozen properties across the Southeast. The real estate platform is an established mixed-use property anchored by nationally recognized food, beverage, and lifestyle tenants on one of Atlanta's most active intown corridors. Active workstreams include a multi-tenant leasing pipeline, a recurring outdoor market program, a food hall build-out, and a continuous calendar of revenue-generating activations. The asset functions, in effect, as a live laboratory for mixed-use operations. The syndication vehicle represents the platform's longer arc: a disciplined intown Atlanta real estate strategy focused on a defined set of submarkets. The first acquisition is targeted within twelve months. The Principal will be central to sourcing, underwriting, and capital formation. The founder previously built and exited an operating business and currently oversees a portfolio combining software, real estate, and selective advisory work. The platform's investor base includes a long-tenured mentor and family-office capital. The work is serious, the capital structure is clean, and the standards are high. The Role The Principal will report directly to the founder and operate as a true second-in-command. The position is designed for someone who can move fluidly between three modes: building a SaaS go-to-market function, executing on commercial real estate, and underwriting principal investments. Specific responsibilities include: Owning the software platform's expansion, including sourcing, negotiating, and closing the next phase of property-level deployments, and building the playbook and team to support them. Managing the real estate platform's tenant pipeline end-to-end, from letter of intent through executed lease, including underwriting, broker management, and direct principal negotiation. Leading diligence and deal sourcing for the syndication vehicle, including market analysis, underwriting, LOI execution, and limited partner materials. Building out the next layer of the organization — analyst, asset management, and growth seats — as the platform scales. Serving as the founder's thought partner on capital allocation, strategy, and the longer-term shape of the platform. This is not a chief of staff role. The Principal will be expected to own outcomes, not facilitate them. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate has two to five years of post-undergraduate experience at a firm where the apprenticeship bar is high and the median peer is exceptional. Representative backgrounds include: Strategy consulting at Bain, McKinsey, or BCG Investment banking or principal investing at a top bulge bracket, growth equity firm (Summit, TA, General Atlantic, Insight), or institutional real estate platform (Blackstone REPE, Brookfield, Stockbridge, Jamestown) A top-tier operating role at a venture-backed company with a meaningful ownership mandate A graduate degree is not required. An MBA from a top program is welcome but not preferred over equivalent operating experience. The candidate should be financially literate enough to underwrite a small-bay industrial acquisition and a SaaS LTV/CAC model with equal facility, and intellectually honest enough to know the difference between the two. The role demands clear written communication, comfort with ambiguity, and the temperament to hold a strong view while remaining genuinely open to being wrong. The Principal must be based in Atlanta or willing to relocate within sixty days. The role is in-person. Compensation Compensation is structured to reward long-term contribution and deal-level performance. Base salary: $110,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience. Equity: Meaningful ownership in the holding company's software holdings on a standard vesting schedule. Carry: Deal-by-deal promote on syndication transactions sourced or executed by the Principal — a structure ra
