Title: Product Development Manager Location: Houston, TX or Roanoke, VA Shift: 1st Shift Hire Type: Direct Hire Pay Rate: $150-200k per year Compensation & Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k and more Sterling Engineering is hiring a Product Development Manager for a global leader in advanced power electronics and industrial control systems. Key Responsibilities Build, lead, and develop a high-performing engineering team focused on developing new VFDs, power electronics and control technologies Drive research and development initiatives aligned with business strategy and long-term growth plans Evaluate emerging technologies in power electronics, embedded systems, and control software Recommend and prioritize R&D investments to maintain competitive advantage Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for engineering initiatives Oversee engineering budgets, capital planning, and project expenditures Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to ensure successful product development Establish strong relationships with internal business units, suppliers, and external partners Lead continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and team performance Support product issue resolution, including failure analysis and corrective actions Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred) 7+ years of experience in power electronics, controls, or related technologies 5+ years of experience leading product development teams or technical projects Proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects and driving business results Strong understanding of power electronics, embedded systems, and control technologies Experience managing engineering budgets, capital planning, and financial performance Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ERP systems Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
