A key member of a fast paced and highly active Global Fertilizer Procurement team with responsibility for developing/maintaining supplier relationships, market/risk analysis, and creating a procurement strategy on all potash/phosphate purchases. The ability to understand and model supply and demand, market conditions, commodity pricing, and supplier intentions is very critical. The successful candidate will be a key leader and interaction between business operations is key. The leader will need to have skill set to work with our international team to drive synergies across business units. What You'll Do Develop, lead, and execute procurement strategy with suppliers, divisions, and regional fertilizer managers Maintain and develop productive business relationships with US and international fertilizer producers/distributors Work close with international business units on leverage opportunities Continue to drive and create new guiding principles and Master Product Sales agreements with all suppliers Work hand in hand with our counterparts on the NPK team to drive home the One Nutrien strategy Forecast price and market trends to identify changes and financial risk, in order, to make purchasing recommendations Execution of 4mm+ tons commodity purchases with division, suppliers, and regional fertilizer managers Maintain database to understand supply/demand from domestic and international suppliers Regular communication with internal general managers regarding market fundamentals, pricing, outlooks, and purchase recommendations Negotiate and manage vendor performance programs Attend and present fertilizer market outlook at regional sales meeting and budgets Review weekly supply/demand forecast Work with Operational Accounting to track program payments and allocate payments to the regions/divisions Participate and be leader at industry conferences Work with AP department to maximize cash flow and working capital reductions Work with regional/divisional managers to identify new market opportunities What You'll Bring BS in ag- business, business, or other relative degrees Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant work experience International fertilizer sourcing experience Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, financial, and organizational skills Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multi-task Interact professionally with both external and internal business partners Travel requirements 15-25% Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this role in Deerfield, IL, is between $147,000 - $231,000, and in Loveland, CO, is between $154,400 - $242,550. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location. We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week.
