What You'll Work On The Product Test Engineer is responsible for testing Campbell Scientific products within the Renewable Energy Division’s R&D team. The role of a Product Test Engineer is to be an active member of the development team with a focus on product validation. Product Test Engineers participate in reviewing product specifications and developing test cases around those specifications and product features. They develop automated tests when appropriate, find/report/track product issues, and refine test processes. The R&D team in the Renewable Energy Division is responsible for the development of various sensors and systems including user interfaces for those products. They are responsible for signing off as the lead test engineer for the division product as they move from development into production. You'll Support Your Team By Performing the Following Key Task Create and maintain a strong culture in accordance with Campbell Scientific’s core ARCTIC values – Accountable, Respectful, Client-Centric, Team-Oriented, Innovative, Continually Improving. Develop manual and automated tests. Analyze defects discovered during testing or reported by customers. Document and report test results. Analyze electrical circuits including power supply circuitry to aid in trouble shooting. Collaborate with product development teams. Validate fixes. Build and maintain test equipment. Develop best practices and improve testing procedures to ensure product performance, reliability, scalability, and overall quality. Support the technical writing staff for the creation of user manuals, application notes, case studies, and educational materials. Contribute to product development when skill and time allow. Participate in product design reviews by providing input on requirements, design, and testability. What We're Looking For Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Robotics and Communications Systems, or related field. 3-5+ years of experience in testing sensors or systems. Working knowledge of computer programming and scripting languages. Hands-on experience using multimeters and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Experience with communication protocols including Modbus over RS485 or similar. Ability to troubleshoot electrical, communications, or mechanical issues. Knowledge of testing processes. Work well in a team environment—freely exchange ideas, graciously provide and accept aid. Flexibility in taking on multiple tasks to aid in any part of the product development and product release cycle. Computer and associated software skills, including Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel…). Ability to identify user experience failures and provide solutions to improve the user experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an Agile development environment. Proficient in using various AI models such as Claude code. Experience using test automation
