Job Description
About the Role Cook Siding & Window Co. is an established specialty exterior contractor serving residential and commercial customers across the Roanoke Valley. We’re hiring a Production Coordinator to serve as the operational hub of our residential installation business — the person who turns a backlog of sold jobs into a smoothly executed weekly schedule, and who keeps that schedule on track when weather, materials, or the unexpected get in the way. You’ll set the daily direction for a 20-person installation crew, work hand-in-hand with our leadership team, and play a central role in modernizing how we plan and run our work. What You’ll Do You’ll own the residential install schedule from the time a job is sold until the crew is rolling toward the customer’s driveway. Your day starts at 7:15 AM in our Salem office, and by 7:30 the crew is in front of you for daily direction. From there, you’re orchestrating people, materials, and information across 5–10 active residential jobs per week. Schedule & Dispatch Build and maintain the weekly and monthly residential installation schedule based on sold jobs, crew capacity, and material availability Dispatch daily — assign crews to jobs, sequence the work, and confirm everyone has what they need to start the day Handle disruptions in real time: weather call-offs, material delays, customer reschedules, and surprises from the field Occasionally schedule crews onto commercial projects when the commercial division needs support Crew Direction & Accountability Lead the 7:30 AM crew gathering — set the tone, communicate the day’s plan, and make sure every installer leaves the shop knowing where they’re going and what they’re doing Direct the daily deployment of the 20-person crew (note: technical and quality performance on the jobsite is owned by our Residential Supervisor and Service Manager, not this role) Provide input on crew performance, hiring decisions, and disciplinary matters based on your daily visibility into who’s showing up, who’s reliable, and who’s not Support a safe work environment by reinforcing safety expectations as part of daily direction Coordination & Communication Coordinate material movement from our warehouse to jobsites with our internal drivers Keep customers informed on start dates, ETAs, and changes — or hand off to our Service Manager or Residential Supervisor when their involvement is needed Coordinate with subcontractors when they’re part of the job Occasionally pull permits and schedule inspections (a few times a month at most) Reporting & Systems Use scheduling and dispatch software to make the schedule transparent and accessible to leadership and the crew Lead the transition away from paper schedules and standalone spreadsheets toward digital, real-time visibility Provide weekly backlog and capacity updates to leadership so we can make smart decisions about sales pacing and hiring What You’ll Bring Required 5+ years of scheduling, dispatch, or production coordination experience in construction, trades, home services, or a comparable field-based operation Demonstrated comfort with scheduling and dispatch software (e.g., JobProgress, ServiceTitan, Buildertrend, AccuLynx, CompanyCam, or similar) and general digital fluency Track record of staying calm and adapting quickly when plans change — this role lives in the gap between what was planned and what actually happens Presence and credibility with field crews; able to give clear direction to 20 tradespeople and have it stick Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Valid driver’s license Preferred Background in residential exterior construction (siding, windows, roofing, gutters) or a related trade Bilingual English / Spanish Who You Are You’re personable but you don’t get pushed around. You can shift gears five times before 9 AM without losing your footing. You like systems and you like making them better — moving an operation from “we keep it in our heads” to “we keep it in the software” sounds like a fun project, not a chore. You’re the kind of person crews respect because you respect them, you tell the truth, and you don’t drop the ball. Schedule, Compensation & Benefits Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM start. In-person at our Salem, VA office. This is not a remote role. Bonus: Eligible for annual company performance bonus Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, retirement plan with company match
