Position Summary The Production Line Lead - Grinding & Primal Trimming is responsible for leading daily operations across two critical production areas:the grinding line and the primal trimming line.This role owns the execution, performance, and continuous improvement of both processes--ensuring grind quality and lean points are achieved, and that sub primals are trimmed accurately to specification before entering portioning and packaging.This is a hands-on leadership role with direct impact on product quality, yield, and overall plant efficiency.The ideal candidate takes ownership of their area, leads from the front, and drives performance through both people and process.Key ResponsibilitiesArea Ownership (Grinding Primal Trimming) Own daily performance of both the grinding line and primal trimming line Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently across both areas Coordinate workflow between trimming and grinding to maintain steady product flow Identify and resolve bottlenecks that impact downstream operations Grinding Line Leadership Oversee grind production to ensure accurate lean point targets are consistently met Monitor blend ratios, texture, and product consistency Ensure proper use and operation of grinders and related equipment Minimize giveaway and rework through tight process control Primal Trimming Line Leadership Lead trimming of sub primals to company specifications Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of trimmed product before portioning Maximize yield by reducing unnecessary trim loss Set and maintain trimming standards across the team Team Leadership & Development Lead, train, and coach team members across both lines Set clear expectations for performance, quality, and safety Provide real-time feedback and hands-on support Assist in onboarding and skill development for new hires Quality & Food Safety Ensure compliance with USDA, HACCP, and company food safety standards Monitor product quality at all stages of trimming and grinding Identify and correct defects, inconsistencies, or contamination risks Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready work areas Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve yield, throughput, and labor efficiency Support Lean / Six Sigma initiatives and standard work development Participate in root cause analysis for quality or production issues Help implement process improvements and equipment optimization Safety Enforce all safety protocols and PPE requirements Promote a culture of safety and accountability Identify hazards and take immediate corrective action QualificationsRequired 2years of meat processing experience, including trimming and/or grinding Strong understanding of beef cuts, trimming specifications, and lean point targets Experience working in a fast-paced production environment Ability to work in cold conditions and lift up to 50 lbs Strong attention to detail and quality Preferred Previous leadership or lead role experience Experience in USDA-inspected facilities Familiarity with yield optimization and production metrics Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience Key Skills & Competencies Ownership mindset and accountability Strong leadership and team coordination Process thinking and flow optimization Problem-solving under pressure Attention to detail and quality control Ability to balance multiple production areas Success Metrics (KPIs) Grinding accuracy (lean point adherence) Trimming yield % and trim loss reduction Throughput (lbs/hour) across both lines Labor efficiency (lbs per labor hour) Rework / defect rates On-time production flow to downstream processes Safety performance Work Environment Cold, refrigerated production environment Fast-paced, physically demanding role Requires standing for extended periods and use of knives and machinery Why Join Us Take ownership of two critical production processes that drive plant performance Be part of a growing, quality-focused food company Opportunity to lead, improve, and scale operations Clear path to Production Supervisor and plant leadership roles Pay:$28.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours:38.0 - 45.0 per week Benefits:401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Experience:Meat cutting:5 years (Required) Work Location:In person.
