Job Description
SUMMARY Hammond Group, Inc. (HGI) is a specialty chemical company that has been serving battery manufacturers for over 90 years. Our production facilities are in Hammond, IN; Pottstown, PA; Gateshead, England; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are currently seeking a Dispersion Production Operator to join our Pottstown, PA team. Candidates should be eager to embrace new challenges and explore growth opportunities within the organization. Fri - Sun 12 hour Shifts plus one 4 hour shift. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operating all production equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Package finished product into customer-specified containers. Maintain a clean, safe work environment at all times. Analytical activities in the Laboratory. Assures that the proper raw materials and packaging are processed. Monitor and process, perform in-process analysis, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that the product meets customer specifications. Maintaining quality records for all production and safety activities. Performs other related duties assigned by management. Flexibility to work shift work and mandatory overtime, before or after standard shift. Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Any other tasks assigned by management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or associate degree preferred. Good math skills; familiarity with the metric system and measurements. Ability to use basic hand tools. Able to plan and prioritize work and manage time effectively. Good Computer and Mechanical skills. Able to work as a team member and interact with people in a professional, courteous manner. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Education: A minimum of a high diploma or GED. Forklift certification is a plus. Manufacturing experience, Organizational, and computer skills are beneficial. REASONING ABILITY Ability to comply with procedures, work instructions, and checklists. Ability to accurately compare actual conditions to performance standards. WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to work outside of normal business hours as needed to accomplish objectives and support responsibilities. Consistent and regular attendance is required. Work in various climate conditions consistent with a manufacturing environment, including cold, humid, and hot work environments. Ability to wear a Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) for the entire work shift. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing: Remaining on one’s feet in an upright position at a workstation without moving about Walking: Moving about on foot Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (including upward pulling), 25-50 lbs. Carrying: Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder. Able to carry equipment/product as much as 50lbs, unassisted, and safely push or pull items as needed. Safely climb stairs and ladders to access production equipment while wearing all assigned PPE. Pushing: Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (Includes slapping, striking, kicking, and treadle actions) Pulling: Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking) Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles using feet and legs or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing gymnastic feats. Stooping: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears Fingering: Picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm, as in handling Ability to wear required PPE: Full-face air-purifying respirator, steel-toe work boots, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, and coveralls.
