Job Description
We are looking for a Production Planner to support manufacturing operations in Leeds, Alabama by coordinating material availability, production timing, and supplier performance. This Long-term Contract position is suited for someone who enjoys balancing schedules, inventory needs, and cross-functional communication to keep production on track. The person in this role will work closely with operations, purchasing, and customer-facing teams to help maintain efficient workflow and support on-time delivery expectations. Responsibilities Build and maintain production plans that align raw material supply, manufacturing capacity, and customer demand. Coordinate with suppliers to help secure timely material deliveries and reduce the risk of interruptions to production. Track inventory activity and identify developing shortages, excess stock, or material constraints that could affect output. Review production progress against planned schedules and make adjustments when priorities, capacity, or supply conditions change. Partner with production, purchasing, and customer service teams to keep scheduling decisions aligned with business needs. Analyze supply flow and operational data to improve planning accuracy and support efficient material usage. Evaluate supplier performance related to quality and delivery reliability in support of planning goals. Contribute to ongoing process improvements and use planning or ERP tools, including Excel, Outlook, and related systems, to support daily operations. Experience in production planning or material planning within a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess schedules, inventory trends, and supply issues effectively. Ability to solve problems quickly and work collaboratively across multiple departments. Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook for reporting, planning, and coordination tasks. Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems; SAP experience is helpful but not required. Working knowledge of inventory control, raw materials planning, and production scheduling processes.
