Objective Must be the leadership of their assigned department to ensure safety, production, quality, attendance, housekeeping, training and succession goals are met. Drive continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing concepts and tools. Provide mentorship to include coaching, progressive discipline, skill cross-training and development for succession options. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Train, cross-train and evaluate direct reports on safety (including JSO), production (including job description and SOP), quality (including SOP), M3 (as appropriate for assigned roles) Plan and manage production to dispatch - working at least one week ahead of schedule Working knowledge of all processes and equipment to include troubleshooting issues – equipment, process, safety, quality Report all process and equipment problems to appropriate manager Work with Maintenance Supervisor related to PM, repair and improvement of equipment and/or processes Define, document and train employees on all departmental processes, procedures and needed tasks to ensure safety, production, quality and housekeeping standards/goals are consistently met Treat all co-workers with respect, keep commitments, work with integrity Ensure all established policies, rules, regulations and procedures are followed Responsible for safety and housekeeping of area of responsibility Completes all required paperwork and reports accurately and on time Manage employee time and attendance (including current HRIS – maintain up to date, accurate time and attendance records) Must be able to work scheduled shift as well as overtime and weekends as required Must perform various administrative and clerical duties as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications 2 years experience in manufacturing leadership role Strong interpersonal communication, active listening, coaching, counseling, training and general leadership skills Able to understand written and verbal directives and complex manufacturing processes Read and interpret blueprints Computer literacy to include MS Outlook, Word, Excel, experience with MRP Experience in a union environment strongly preferred Ability to carry out multi step, complex directions Ability to deductively and inductively problem solve with multiple variables Ability to utilize general mathematical and algebraic problems Ability to retain focus while managing multiple projects, tasks and problems Ability to deal with non-standard production situations with multiple variables Education and/or experience Bachelors or HS/GED preferred and commensurate experience 2 years of supervision Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is not a climate-controlled facility therefore summer heat and winter cold are conditions that should be expected. Paint line supervisor may expect paint overspray to be present.
