Summary – basic function of the role The Production Support Specialist supports efficient production flow by ensuring every workstation has the materials, components, and supplies needed to maintain continuous operation. This role focuses on material replenishment, inventory accuracy, waste removal, staging builds, and supporting lean practices to minimize downtime and keep the line moving. This position requires strong organization, fast-paced coordination, and effective communication with production teams Shift: Monday – Friday; 6 am – 2:30 pm / OT & Saturdays when production needs exist. Job Duties and Responsibilities Material Flow & Workstation Support Deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to workstations based on production needs Stage builds by unpacking, preparing, or labeling parts Replenish materials proactively to prevent delays Remove completed product, packaging, and scrap to maintain flow Inventory & Documentation Perform inventory transactions using RF devices or WMS systems Complete work orders, logs, and paperwork accurately Support cycle counting and put-away of warehouse deliveries Workplace Organization & Lean Support Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled staging areas Support 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives Identify material-flow issues or bottlenecks and communicate promptly Cross-Functional Communication Coordinate material needs with assemblers, schedulers, warehouse staff, and supervisors Communicate shortages, changes in priority, or workflow concerns Respond quickly to team requests to maintain uninterrupted production Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures for material handling and equipment use Report unsafe conditions immediately Maintain safe, clean, and unobstructed work areas Skills & Competencies • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize tasks, and maintain orderly staging areas Communication: Clear and timely coordination with production and warehouse teams Technical Skills: Basic computer and RF scanner use; understanding of material flow Attention to Detail: Accurate inventory transactions and correct material placement Adaptability: Ability to shift quickly to meet changing production demands Teamwork: Willingness to support operators and collaborate across functions. Experience Comfortable using basic computer software (e.g., MS Office); experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is helpful but not required. Low to moderate mechanical, technical, or analytical aptitude to support troubleshooting and material flow. Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, warehouse, or related environments is a plus; candidates without experience will be considered if they demonstrate a strong attitude and willingness to learn. Familiarity with material-handling tools, equipment, or basic assembly tools is an advantage. Physical Demands Employee will lift 1-30 pounds intermittently and may have to lift documents/work materials up to 40 pounds intermittently. Employee will have to be able to walk to a variety of primary work locations. Employee will need manual (hand) dexterity to support basic setup, handling, or light assembly of small parts as needed.
