Job purpose The Project Field Engineer assists and supports the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Project Engineer on assigned projects. They ensure installations are safe, meet standards, and are completed on schedule. Their duties include inspecting work, troubleshooting issues, managing subcontractors, and coordinating with other teams. Primary Duties & Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Communicates and helps to enforce the company's Health & Safety Program. Assists in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's). Participate in job-site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training. Manage material and equipment – oversee the ordering, delivery, and storage of materials and equipment on site. Prepare work plans, work packages, and other documentation. Participate, record, and in some cases oversee quality assurance measures. Assist in scheduling equipment when necessary. Assist in interpretation of proposals/specifications and drawings for field crews and craft supervision. Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials & work. Coordinate with internal and external team members – project managers, project engineer, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project process and timely completion. Monitor project progress – track work progress, identify deviations from the plan, and report any issues to the management team. Support pre-construction activities – assist with tasks such as submittals, RFIs, and document distribution. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors – work with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Assist with cost control and scheduling – monitor project costs and contribute to schedule maintenance. Provide technical guidance and support – offer expertise and assistance to field personnel and other team members. Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Knowledge: Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents. Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment. Ability to create, review, and organize documents. An analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills. Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative. Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time. Understanding of safety guidelines. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives. Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Pro or Bluebeam. Education and Experience (include but not limited to): 3+ years' construction experience. Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, sciences, or related. Additional Requirements (include but not limited to): Regular, reliable attendance. Work productively and meet deadlines timely. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and occasional overtime and weekends. Other Training Requirements (include but not limited to): Standard compliance training (Anti-harassment). Continuing education courses. Working Conditions: The job involves a mix of office-based tasks and on-site supervision, often requiring long hours and some travel. The role may face challenging physical conditions, including varying weather, exposure to construction hazards, and the need to work in diverse environments.
