Project Manager – Powerline Construction & Electrical Distribution (PMI-Aligned) Position Summary The Project Manager is responsible for leading overhead and underground electrical distribution construction projects in alignment with PMI project management principles and industry best practices. This role oversees project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to utility specifications and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager drives operational performance through data-driven decision-making, KPI management, AI-enabled technologies, financial oversight, and field leadership. This position works closely with operations, engineering, estimating, procurement, and field teams to support strategic objectives, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & PMI Methodology Manage projects through all PMI project lifecycle phases: Initiation Planning Execution Monitoring & Controlling Project Closeout Develop project charters, scope documents, schedules, risk assessments, communication plans, and resource strategies. Establish project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success metrics. Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate all project stakeholders. Maintain project governance, reporting standards, and documentation controls. Utility Construction Operations Oversee overhead and underground electrical distribution construction activities. Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and scheduling to ensure efficient project execution. Ensure compliance with utility standards, engineering specifications, permits, and quality requirements. Conduct regular field visits to monitor productivity, safety, and operational performance. Support emergency restoration and storm response operations as required. Financial & Budget Management Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, and earned value reporting. Monitor project financial performance including: Cost variance Schedule variance Labor productivity Resource utilization Profit margins Manage change orders, contract administration, invoicing, and financial reporting. Support strategic resource allocation and operational planning initiatives. KPI Management & Data Analytics Track and report key project KPIs including: Safety metrics Budget adherence Schedule performance Productivity rates Equipment utilization Customer satisfaction Quality control Utilize project dashboards, analytics platforms, and reporting systems to support data-driven decision-making. Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities using operational and financial data. AI & Technology Integration Utilize AI-enabled project management and operational tools to improve: Scheduling accuracy Resource planning Forecasting Productivity analysis Risk management Support implementation of digital construction technologies and automation systems. Leverage software platforms for project tracking, field reporting, documentation, and operational visibility. Promote continuous innovation and technology adoption across operations. Safety & OSHA Compliance Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in alignment with OSHA, DOT, utility, and environmental standards. Conduct project safety planning, risk assessments, and compliance reviews. Monitor and improve safety KPIs including TRIR and DART performance. Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and workforce safety training. Stakeholder & Client Management Serve as primary point of contact for utility clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and executive reporting. Manage stakeholder expectations, communication plans, and issue resolution processes. Build strong customer relationships focused on quality, transparency, and long-term partnership success. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
