We're looking for a Project Manager (PM) who is familiar with the processes involved in bringing a customer's design to life within an injection molding business. The PM will be involved with project inception, capital and tooling sourcing, establishing critical measurement methodologies, coordinating sample shots/materials/inserts, and scheduling. The PM will also be a point of contact for the life of the project. Here is the job description highlighting details of this role: JOB TITLE DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE: The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for coordinating all activities necessary for on-time delivery of projects that meet these 4 items: Most efficient manufacturing practices Meet customers fit, form and function requirements Best cost trade-off for needs Tooling integrity over life of the project. In addition to the forementioned points, the PM will provide Constant internal contact with sales, estimating, manufacturing, quality assurance and tooling services. Working with suppliers and customers will require tact, resourcefulness and a working knowledge of Company policies, practice and procedures. REPORTING: This position directly reports to the Plant Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES: Coordinate with Sales after order receipt to ensure all customer information is received in a timely fashion. Determine whether to source tooling design in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule. Determine whether to source tool build, repair or major revision work in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule Determine whether to source design and/or build of secondary in-house or to outside supplier to meet schedule. Ensure the ordering of any required capital equipment is integrated into the project schedule. Ensure that the critical dimensions and methods of measurement are all identified and agreed to early in the project Coordinate any required meetings from feasibility through pre-production; insure people come with appropriate information; make follow-up assignments to people. Schedule molding machines for sampling with maximum notice Schedule ISIR with maximum notice Ensure required sample material and inserts are available when needed Authorize all rework to tools – no work is done without the PM’s oversight Update and publish project schedules Communicate promptly with management when there is a risk of a project being late Manage the project budget Recommend when a tool should be accepted by manufacturing Primary contact with customer during project life Provide input for improvements to the project management system Be aware of Customer Focus and it’s meaning; participate in Customer Focus team activities if required. Responsible for placement of tooling, auxiliary and automation equipment with effective purchasing and cost guidelines; maintain promised dates at a quality level that is acceptable to TPM and it’s customers Assist other TPM plants with project management oversight as required Perform other tasks as assigned. EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS This position requires the following minimum education qualifications: Degree in engineering or specialized training preferred Possession of effective verbal and written communication skills. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: This position requires the following minimum work experience qualifications: Minimum of 5 years in mold making, design, plastic manufacturing and project management Proficiency in navigating Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and Epicor
