JOB Essential Job Functions: Administers and enforces the unsafe structure and housing code ordinances of the City; prepares letters, reports and other communications for management; conducts detailed inspections of buildings and residential structures to determine compliance with ordinances Enters inspection details into computer system on field i-Pad (results, violations, pictures, etc.) Inspects structures for compliance with the International Property Maintenance Prepares structures for contractor and City Council Coordinates and inspects renovation work programs with property owners; serves as a liaison for related activities between the City and other governmental and private entities; investigates housing code complaints, answer related questions and takes appropriate action; inspects work done by contractor; develops and updates specifications and standards for removal of building within the City; may perform inspections with Police Department, Health Department and Fire Department.Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as required. Works inside and outside; may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, mechanical hazards; explosive hazards, dust/mites hazards, toxic waste hazards, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, gas vapors, and working in potentially unsafe areas of town; will conduct inspections inside substandard unsafe structures; may be exposed to asbestos. Work hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday and extended hours as needed. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver’s License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
