We are currently seeking a Psych ED Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients presenting with psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies in a fast‑paced emergency department environment. Working as a key member of an interdisciplinary team, you will perform rapid triage and mental health assessments, identify risk factors for self‑harm or harm to others, and implement appropriate crisis stabilization interventions. You will collaborate closely with emergency medicine physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and other clinicians to develop and carry out individualized plans of care that are patient‑centered and evidence‑based. The Psych ED Registered Nurse is responsible for continuous monitoring of patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, administering medications safely, de‑escalating volatile situations using therapeutic communication and crisis intervention techniques, and maintaining a safe, trauma‑informed environment for patients, families, and staff. You will provide education and support to patients and their support systems regarding diagnoses, treatment options, coping strategies, and community resources, while advocating for patients’ rights and dignity throughout their ED stay. Mission Health fosters a collaborative environment emphasizing teamwork, respect, and professional growth. As a Psych ED RN, you will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to care coordination and discharge planning, and work closely with case management and community partners to facilitate appropriate disposition, whether inpatient admission, outpatient follow‑up, or referral to community services. You will follow all regulatory and organizational policies related to documentation, safety, quality improvement, and infection prevention, and actively engage in unit‑based initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and the overall ED behavioral health experience. The current opportunity includes a full‑time Registered Nurse position with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the 24/7 nature of emergency care. This role is well suited for an RN who is calm under pressure, skilled in therapeutic communication, and passionate about behavioral health. Mission Health supports ongoing professional development through education, certification support, and opportunities for advancement within the organization, allowing you to grow your skills and career while making a meaningful difference for patients in crisis.
