Job Description
Job Title: Psychiatric Attendant Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday | 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM Days Off: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Position Summary: We are seeking a committed and compassionate Psychiatric Attendant to join our behavioral health team. This position is in a Correctional facility . This position is responsible for providing direct care and maintaining the safety and security of forensic patients within a secure mental health setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with nursing staff and other professionals to support patient treatment and promote a structured, therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities: Monitor patient behavior and ensure unit safety and security. Escort patients to and from meals, medical appointments, therapeutic sessions, and recreational activities. Intervene during behavioral crises to prevent injury or harm, including applying restraints or seclusion when necessary. Conduct safety inspections, including searches of patient rooms and clothing for contraband or hazardous items. Assist patients with daily living needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, and hygiene routines. Promote patient independence by teaching and encouraging participation in daily routines and therapeutic programs. Complete documentation such as progress notes, incident reports, shift logs, and supply requisitions. Support team efforts in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe unit environment. Attend training sessions, team meetings, and staff briefings as required. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED (required at this facility). Ability to read, write, and perform basic math (addition/subtraction). Strong interpersonal and observational skills. Experience in mental health, corrections, or a similar environment is preferred but not required. Active BLS Card Work Environment: The work environment is with a Correctional Facility Must be able to work weekends per the set schedule. Exposure to communicable diseases and physical activity is required.
