Position Summary: Reporting to the Medical Director, the Psychiatrist will provide direct psychiatric services to clients receiving case management services in Caminar’s Redwood City clinic. They are responsible for assessing clients’ mental health issues, diagnosing mental health disorders and working with a multi-disciplinary team and the client to develop an appropriate treatment plan. The Psychiatrist will prescribe psychiatric medications as needed, monitor medication side effects, and document therapeutic progress. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide direct psychiatric services. Work with the Medication Clinic team to ensure that clients receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medical screening and medical/psychiatric evaluation whenever indicated, and that all medical/psychiatric care is appropriately documented in the medical record in a timely manner. Provide care in the clinic(s), in community settings (where applicable) and by telehealth. Required to provide services (including telehealth) in the Redwood City clinic at least 3 days per week Conduct psychiatric assessments and make diagnoses. Prescribe medications and monitor medication efficacy. Update medication orders at every visit. Explain medication effects and side-effects to clients and/or guardian. See clients during drop-in and emergency appointments. Work collaboratively with nursing staff. Provide cross-coverage for psychiatrists when colleagues are away or unavailable. Collaboratively plan vacations to ensure cross-coverage. Work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans. Participate in the Individual Plan of Service for each client, with emphasis on all medical aspects of the plan. Review, approve and sign all Individual Plans of Service. Review and follow up on treatment(s) ordered by other physicians. Document client’s progress and provision of service in compliance with HIPAA and all other federal and California laws, statutes, codes, and regulations governing the provision and billing of mental health services. Maintain up to date knowledge of required documentation standards, including appropriate submission of services in the EHR according to Medi-Cal guidelines. Ensure accurate coding of billing documentation. Review non-psychiatric medical orders and prescriptions. Order non-prescription, first aid, drugs (i.e. analgesics, antipyretics) as needed. Provide billable services at least 50% of the time. Review productivity metrics and other clinical key performance indicators with the Medical Director and course correct performance and/or related processes when warranted. Perform individual and group psychotherapy/counseling when indicated. Perform crisis interventions as needed. Participate in complex case conference discussions for clients and corresponding care planning. Participate in quality management projects and programs. Participate in the Agency staff development and in-service education programs for both professional staff and (company) staff. Participate in promoting a safe, healthy and clean working environment at all times consistent with applicable laws, industry standards and the agency’s own Health & Safety Program. Drive own or agency vehicle to treatment destinations, as required; documenting and reporting mileage according to agency procedures, so that services can be provided in a timely manner; always comply with agency vehicle policy.
