PT Grant Writer Job Description Position Title:PT Grant Writer Organization:The Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice (CCAEJ) Position Type:Part-time (20-25 hours weekly), non-exempt hourly, not benefits eligible Supervisor:Executive Director The Part-Time Grant Writer leads CCAEJ's institutional fundraising strategy with a clear focus on securing new and renewed grant revenue to advance environmental justice campaigns and community-led initiatives.This role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing foundation, corporate, and government funding.The Grant Writer produces persuasive, compelling proposals and reports that reflect CCAEJ's community-driven work and environmental justice impact.Success in this role is measured by grants submitted, grants awarded, total dollars secured, and strengthened institutional relationships.The Grant Writer works collaboratively with organizing, policy, and administrative staff to translate program outcomes into competitive funding proposals and ensure timely, high-quality submissions.Essential Functions (Results-Oriented Framework)Revenue & Grant Acquisition Secure a minimum annual grant revenue target (to be established with the Executive Director).Submit a defined number of high-quality grant proposals per quarter.Maintain a grant success rate aligned with organizational benchmarks.Increase institutional funding year over year.Prospect Research & Pipeline Development Identify and qualify new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities aligned with environmental justice priorities.Build and maintain an active grant pipeline with clear tracking of deadlines, funding cycles, and award projections.Develop cultivation strategies to strengthen funder relationships and increase renewal rates.Persuasive Proposal Development Produce compelling, data-driven, and community-centered grant proposals.Translate organizing, policy, and environmental justice work into clear, fundable narratives.Develop strong cases for support that demonstrate measurable impact.Prepare budgets and supporting documentation in collaboration with finance staff.Ensure timely submission of grant reports with clear outcomes and accountability.Collaboration & Internal Coordination Work collaboratively with organizing, campaign, and leadership staff to gather stories, data, and program outcomes.Participate in strategic discussions to align funding opportunities with campaign priorities.Strengthen internal systems for grant tracking and reporting.Support cross-team integration of environmental justice frameworks in funding narratives.Environmental Justice Integration Demonstrate deep understanding of environmental justice principles, community organizing models, and policy advocacy.Ensure proposals center frontline community leadership and racial equity.Align funding strategies with CCAEJ's mission and long-term movement-building goals.Job SpecificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Nonprofit Management, or related field; or equivalent lived and professional experience.Experience Minimum of 4 years of successful grant writing experience.Demonstrated experience securing foundation and/or government grants.Experience working with environmental justice, grassroots, or community-based organizations strongly preferred.Proven record of meeting or exceeding grant revenue goals.Skills Required Demonstrated persuasive writing skills with ability to craft compelling cases for support.Evidence of personally written and secured grant awards.Strong understanding of environmental justice frameworks.Ability to translate technical program work into clear funder language.Strong research and strategic prospecting skills.Ability to work collaboratively across teams.Strong time management and deadline discipline.Familiarity with donor/grant management systems.Self-directed and results-driven mindset.Clear expectation and accountability for landing grants.Performance Expectations Success in this role includes:Meeting or exceeding annual institutional fundraising targets.Maintaining a minimum agreed-upon grant success rate.Submitting proposals on or before all deadlines.Increasing grant renewal rates.Expanding institutional funder base.Producing high-quality reports that strengthen funder confidence.Demonstrating strong internal collaboration and responsiveness.Compensation Hourly Range:$30 - $33 per hour (commensurate with experience) Schedule:20-25 hours per week Location:CCAEJ Office (Jurupa Valley) CCAEJ is an equal opportunity employer.We value diversity and inclusivity in our team and will not discriminate on the basis of:Race Color Religion (includes religious dress and grooming practices) Sex/gender (includes pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and/ or related medical conditions) Gender identity, gender expression Sexual orientation Marital status Medical Condition (genetic characteristics, cancer or a record
