Job Description
General Summary:This is a part-time weekend and evening Public Benefit Screener position to work with a local healthcare facility in Mt.Home, AR.This position primarily focuses on obtaining and assisting in the preparation of applications for available public benefits from designated public benefit sources to improve Midland and customers' financial circumstances.This position will require performing advocacy work, gathering confidential and financial information from patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid and other public assistance programs.This position will collaborate and communicate with hospital staff, public services agencies, and other medical providers.We will provide training for the right candidate.Who We Are:The Midland Group is wholly owned by a 501c3 charitable trust, which means we are able to focus on our mission of improving healthcare access for low-income individuals, and financial health for our hospital clients.We believe in a people-first approach, working with compassion and respect, and being true partners with our hospital clients to improve their financial health and the overall health of their communities and patients.Essential Job Functions:Obtain and assist in the analysis of information and medical records and assist in the applications for available public benefits from designated public benefit sources to improve Midland and customers' financial circumstances.(60%) Communicates information to customers and inputs and maintains information in the customer's information system and Midland's information system.(35%) Performs all other related duties as assigned by supervisor.(5%) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Skills in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs, and telephone systems.Skills in oral and written communication, including customer service techniques.Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.Ability to pay close attention to detail.Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to positive employee morale.Education and Experience: Associates degree or equivalent experience Experience with HIPAA, billing, customer service, financial counseling Experience working with or applying for public benefits programs on behalf of others Job Type:Part-time Work Location:In person.
