Overview Join our Public Works team as a dedicated Public Works Employee, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving our community’s infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work outdoors and contribute directly to the safety and functionality of public spaces. Duties Water and Wastewater rounds daily, rotate with other employees on weekends. Includes checking chemical levels and other required sampling. Ordering of needed products to maintain Water and Wastewater plants. Mowing of Village owned properties in the summertime. Includes the Village park, water and wastewater plants. Snow removal in the winter months, includes maintaining salt inventory. Coordinating with contractors for Village improvement projects and or maintenance projects. Maintaining the equipment at the park. Tennis courts, basketball hoop, bathrooms and garbage removal. Maintaining Village owned equipment. Lawn mowers, vehicles, water supply lines, sewer lines and street signs. Locate utilities in conjunction with JULIE. Skills Mechanical knowledge of machinery, tools, and equipment used in public works projects. Experience operating equipment such as mowers, backhoes, and snow plow equipment. Valid driving license mandatory. Experience with commercial vehicle operation preferred. Familiarity with hand tools (hammers, wrenches) and power tools (drills, saws) used on construction sites. Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment preferred. Prior experience demonstrating knowledge of safety standards and project workflows.
