JOB Essential Job FunctionsOversee the procurement of goods and services for all City servicesResponsible for the maintenance of procurement records and filesDevelop bid specifications and contracts; Manage bid processCreate and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure the highest quality product or service for the most cost-effective priceManage inventory including system management, department reporting, and adding inventory to systemIssue purchase orders for needed purchasesAssist Accounts Payable department including computer entry of invoices for paymentAssist Administrative Assistant in answering phones and greeting customers at Public Works buildingComply with all City policies, procedures, and safety standards Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or City leadershipMinimum QualificationsHigh School Graduate or GED equivalentPossess and maintain an AL driver licenseAbility to communicate and effectively deal with general public, vendors and other government agenciesBasic Computer skills/experienceDemonstrated leadership abilitiesSound decision-making and good judgmentPhysical RequirementsThe work is sedentary. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items; driving an automobile, etc. Work EnvironmentThe work environment is an office setting. This job is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
