Job Title: QC Chemist Job Description The QC Chemist performs a wide range of chemical, physical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet quality and regulatory standards. This role follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintains accurate and neat data records, keeps laboratory equipment and the work environment clean, and promptly reports any non-conformances. The QC Chemist applies analytical chemistry expertise, including HPLC and wet chemistry techniques, and contributes to the development and drafting of laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with established methods and specifications. Conduct HPLC analyses for quality control testing, ensuring accurate, precise, and reliable results. Carry out wet chemistry and other analytical tests using appropriate laboratory techniques and methods. Operate and maintain analytical balances and other laboratory instruments, ensuring proper calibration and performance. Follow all GMP requirements and quality control procedures during testing and documentation. Record test data neatly, accurately, and completely in laboratory notebooks, worksheets, or electronic systems. Review test results against specifications and promptly report any non-conformances or out-of-specification results to management or designated personnel. Support analytical method validation and the preparation of analytical validation and qualification reports for chemistry when needed. Draft and revise laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support consistent and compliant testing practices. Contribute to quality assurance and development activities related to nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and food manufacturing products. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with quality, development, and production teams to support continuous improvement of testing methods and processes. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of experience in quality control testing with HPLC in a laboratory environment. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry. Hands-on experience performing HPLC analyses for QC purposes. Proficiency in chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products. Experience using analytical balances and other standard QC laboratory equipment. Knowledge of wet chemistry techniques and analytical chemistry principles. Working knowledge of GMP requirements and their application in a laboratory setting. Ability to follow established analytical methods and SOPs with strong attention to detail. Strong data recording, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to identify, document, and communicate non-conformances in a timely and accurate manner. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in quality control testing within food, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical industries. Experience in nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or food testing and manufacturing environments. Experience preparing analytical validation and qualification reports for chemistry (strong plus). Familiarity with QA processes and development activities related to product quality. Ability to contribute to drafting and improving laboratory SOPs. Solid scientific experience with a focus on analytical chemistry. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot analytical issues. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams. Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site laboratory role in a quality control environment supporting food, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical manufacturing. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The QC Chemist works in a controlled laboratory setting with regular use of HPLC systems, analytical balances, and other analytical and wet chemistry equipment. The role requires adherence to GMP standards, laboratory safety protocols, and internal quality procedures, as well as maintaining a clean, organized, and professional workspace consistent with standard laboratory attire and safety requirements.
