Van Hessen USA holds the preeminent position as the industry's premier purveyor of natural sausage casings worldwide.Van Hessen USA combines the knowledge and expertise of more than a century of satisfying even the most discriminating of sausage manufacturers, both in the United States and abroad.For more information about our company, visit our website at http://vanhessen.com Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Safety Specialist to join our team.In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all food safety protocols are adhered to, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance within our operations.You will play a critical role in conducting quality audits, implementing quality systems, and utilizing precision measuring instruments to ensure product safety and integrity.Duties Take the lead role in the FSSC 22000 audits to maintain certification.Ensure that our Food Safety Management System conforms with FSSC 22000 requirements and updates. Ensure compliance with FDA and USDA regulations. Responsible for reviewing and updating our HACCP plan and our Food Safety and Quality Management System Lead the management review meetings and HACCP team meetings including the HAACP verification and validation meetings. Report monthly on QA objectives Perform internal audits, daily hygiene inspections, monthly seal security audits Maintain the supplier approval program Manage the food safety training program.Develop new trainings based on complaints and returns, nonconformances, regulatory requirements, GMPs, and the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Conduct new hire orientation on GMPs and hygiene policy Manage chemical inventory and chemical approval process Complete customer food safety documentation requests Qualifications Proven experience in food safety or a related field is preferred.Familiarity with quality inspection techniques and tools, including Calypso software.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.Knowledge of QA/QC processes and best practices in food safety.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Spanish Preferred Join us in our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety while contributing to a culture of excellence within our organization.Job Type:Full-time Pay:$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year Benefits:401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Schedule:Monday to Friday Shift availability:Day Shift (Preferred) Ability to Commute:Chicago, IL 60609 (Required) Ability to Relocate:Chicago, IL 60609:Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location:In person.
