Overview The Electronics Final Quality Inspector ensures that electronic assemblies, PCBs, and finished products meet all quality, workmanship, and customer requirements. This role performs final inspection , SMT inspection , solder inspection , and interim in‑process inspections , while supporting documentation accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Key Duties & Responsibilities Perform comprehensive final inspections on completed electronic assemblies, PCBs, harnesses, and electromechanical units. Verify that all required tests, documentation, and process steps have been completed before product release. Approve or reject finished products based on conformance to specifications. Inspect SMT‑assembled boards for component placement accuracy, polarity, alignment, and solder quality. Use microscopes, AOI results, magnification tools, and measurement equipment to validate SMT workmanship. Identify defects such as tombstoning, bridging, insufficient solder, and misalignment. Inspect solder joints on through‑hole and SMT components to ensure compliance with IPC‑A‑610 standards. Identify defects such as cold solder joints, voids, cracks, insufficient solder, and contamination. Verify proper wetting, fillet formation, and overall solder integrity. Conduct in‑process inspections at key stages of assembly to detect issues early. Confirm that operators follow documented procedures, ESD controls, and quality requirements. Document nonconformances and communicate findings to production leads or engineering. Read and interpret assembly drawings , schematics , BOMs (Bills of Materials) , and work instructions. Verify that assemblies match drawing requirements, part numbers, revisions, and BOM configurations. Perform and document FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) in accordance with AS9102 or customer‑specific requirements. Maintain accurate inspection records, logs, and traceability documentation. General Responsibilities Route nonconforming products for rework and verify corrective actions. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues. Support audits, continuous improvement efforts, and corrective action processes. Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly, and SMT processes. Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and BOMs . Experience performing FAIRs and completing AS9102 or equivalent documentation. Proficiency with microscopes, magnifiers, calipers, gauges, and basic electrical test tools. High attention to detail and ability to identify workmanship defects. Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 standards (certification preferred). Strong documentation and communication skills. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. 2–5 years of electronics inspection or PCB assembly experience preferred. IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD‑001 certification is a plus. Experience with FAIR/AS9102 documentation preferred. Work Environment Electronics manufacturing or assembly environment. Requires working under magnification and handling small components. Must follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures.
