Job Description
Position Summary The Quality Measurement Data Manager will be responsible for chart abstraction/data capture and improvement activities related to various external quality reporting requirements typically including but not limited to CMS/TJC measure sets reporting and NYS and professional society registry reporting. The primary focus of these registries is to collect data from patient records and identify opportunities for improvement resulting in improved outcomes for patients receiving care at Stony Brook Medicine. Duties of the Quality Measurement Data Manager may include the following but are not limited to: Continually analyze new and revised specifications for assigned quality registries typically including but not limited to CMS/TJC measure sets, NYS, and professional society registries. Develop a comprehensive understanding of reporting requirements, educate Quality Measurement & Analytics (QMA), Quality Improvement (QI), relevant clinical staff, Informational Technology (IT), and Clinical Transformation regarding potential impact on workflow requirements. Perform gap analysis to identify registry data elements not currently captured in the legal health record. Participate in and/or manage collaborative projects with IT and relevant clinical staff to develop mechanisms for capturing data elements. Perform hybrid medical record review of cases, validation, outlier cases drill-down, and other clinical data abstraction activities as necessary to support external quality reporting and quality improvement activities. Continually take steps to ensure the accuracy of all data captured for measure sets and registries. Provide guidance to relevant clinical staff regarding areas of variance with guidelines as demonstrated by the registries. This includes accessing standard reports as well as preparation of basic custom reports. Provide guidance and support on clinical topics to other QMA personnel, QI, and other analytical and clinical departments. Generate ad-hoc reports and perform ad-hoc responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the QMA Supervisor. Maintain awareness of institutional quality priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues in QMA, the Quality Management Division, IT, clinical and ancillary services, and Hospital Leadership to accomplish organizational goals. Qualifications Required: Registered Nurse with three or more years of nursing experience. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse populations of healthcare workers is critical Ability to navigate an electronic medical record Basic computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentations Demonstrated ability to grow and adapt in a changing environment Superior organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to set priorities, be persistent and follow through Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other advanced clinical education Five or more years of medical/surgical clinical experience Clinical chart review and abstraction experience and ability Prior experience with health care quality reporting and/or interpreting health care regulatory/accreditation requirements Skill in presenting information to a variety of audiences Experience in collaborative design of electronic health record components Intermediate experience with Excel Special Notes: Resume/CV should be included with the online application.
