Salary $24.71 - $29.37 Hourly Location Main Campus (BG), OH Job Type Full-Time Job Number BGSU01346 Division Finance & Administration Department Police Division Opening Date 01/26/2026 Closing Date 2/9/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Summary BGSU Police operates a fully staffed 24/7 emergency and non-emergency dispatch center.The Radio Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, processing, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls for the Department of Public Safety at the BGSU campus.Operates and monitors BGSU police radio, Bowling Green City Police radio, county and state police agency radios, BGSU non-police employee radios, as well as other types of police communications equipment.Reports to a Dispatch and Records Supervisor.BGSU Police is a 24/7 operations Essential Functions Receive, analyze, prioritize and transmit emergency and non-emergency communications by radio, telephone, or computer in order to coordinate emergency and non-emergency response for Bowling Green State University and other public safety forces; dispatches police, fire and/or emergency medical services by radio and computer.Monitors other police agencies' radio traffic to determine any activities involving the Bowling Green campus.Relays any pertinent information to shift supervisor or officer incharge.Monitors alarm systems on campus as well as functions as an answering point for third party alarm companies for assets on campus.Notifies appropriate personnel to address alarm incidents.Logs officers on and off patrol and officers' activities throughout each shift.Enters complaints, incidents, and services rendered.Responsible for monitoring multiple computer systems to include alarms, LEADS, phones, radio, and in-house resources.Distributes, tracks, and processes various departmental equipment and resources.Assists Parking Services with the verification of registrations and monitors Parking radio traffic.Operates as dispatcher for Emergency Communications Center when necessary.Responsible for reviewing email and other available informational resources in the dispatch area to keep abreast of current policies and procedures.This list of essential duties, tasks and responsibilities is not all-inclusive; individual will perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Must be certified through State Highway Patrol to operate Law Enforcement Automated Data Systems (LEADS) terminal within six months from date of hire Preferred Qualifications Previous dispatch experience Additional Information Essential Competencies Knowledge of basic mathematical skills Knowledge of basic reading skills Ability to carry out verbal and/or written instructions Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and written Detailed oriented and highly accurate Ability to work in changing environment Ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty and/or staff or the public and represent BGSU appropriately Ability to coordinate or lead others in accomplishing work activities Knowledge of computer skills, such as MS Office, presentations, spreadsheets and/or database entry/query Ability to operate computers and peripheral equipment such as printers Ability to draft office correspondence Ability to multitask in a controlled, effective manner while working under stress Ability to interpret and analyze information Salary Range:$24.71 - $29.37 Hourly Radio dispatcher experience and training will be considered after the successful competition of the Communication Training Program which may increase the hourly wage up to $29.37.Deadline to Apply:February 9, 2026 Required Application Materials & Evaluation Experience must be fully documented on the official application.The application will be used to evaluate if candidates meet the minimum requirements for the position and for consideration when determining starting pay rate.Experience requirements are inclusive of relevant professional experience, or experience attained through relevant internships, co-ops, student employment positions, or graduate assistantships.Uploads Required:Resume (for supplemental information only) Optional:Cover Letter Essential Requirement:Work Authorization BGSU does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.Bowling Green State University is an Equal Opportunity Educator and Employer.We are committed to ensuring an equal employment opportunity for all applicants and encourage applications from all regardless of sex, race, veteran-status, disability, age, gender identity, genetic information, religion, or sexual orientation.EEOC Know Your Rights Poster:https://www.eeoc.gov/sites/default/files/2023-06/22-088_EEOC_KnowYourRights6.12ScreenRdr.pdf In compliance with the ADA Amendm
