Job Overview Ranch Caretaker / Independent Ranch Steward (Live-On-Site) Talus Wind Ranch -- Galisteo, NM Talus Wind Ranch is seeking a reliable, motivated individual (or couple) for a full-time Ranch Caretaker role.This is a hands-on position within a working ranch environment that values organization, consistency, and thoughtful land and livestock stewardship.This opportunity is best suited for those who appreciate independence, enjoy outdoor living, and have a genuine love of animals.The ranch is owner-operated on a small scale.The owner resides on the property but travels occasionally, so the ability to work independently and responsibly in their absence is important.The role is well-suited to individuals who are self-directed, adaptable, and comfortable managing responsibilities with minimal day-to-day supervision.A calm, steady approach and good judgment in changing situations are highly valued.Key Qualities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional, courteous, and dependable Hospitality background or mindset is a plus Clean driving record (required) Experience with livestock and basic knowledge of horses is a plus Core Responsibilities Daily and weekly ranch operations (feeding, checking animals, general oversight) Light to moderate maintenance and upkeep Coordination with part-time workers and contractors Completion of clearly defined weekly projects Clear communication and consistent follow-through Schedule & Work Structure Work hours are structured around morning and evening chores.Average hours will be mutually agreed upon, depending on responsibilities and seasonal needs Once core responsibilities are completed, additional time may be flexible based on individual preferences and ranch priorities Weekends are lighter, typically involving basic feeding and essential care ( 3 hours/day) Compensation & Housing Starting compensation:DOE (depending on experience), with a baseline of approximately $2,500/month Potential for increased compensation based on performance and responsibility Housing provided Alternative arrangement available:housing may be offered in exchange for minimal ranch responsibilities, depending on candidate qualifications 30-day initial review period to ensure a strong mutual fit Additional Information A draft outline of daily and weekly chores will be provided to give a clear picture of workflow and expectations.To Apply Please reply with:A brief overview of your experience Your availability A short note on why this type of ranch lifestyle appeals to you Qualified candidates will be contacted with next steps.Pay:$3,000.00 - $5,000.00 per month Benefits:Flexible schedule Paid time off Work Location:In person.
