This position reports to: Configuration Manager __ The work model for the role is: Onsite Your role and responsibilities: The R&D Sr Product Solution Engineer plays a critical role in shaping ABB’s configurable electric motor portfolio. You will define product solutions, rules and data structures that enable automated configuration and ordering. Ensuring our products are technically robust, cost effective and easy to configure. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product management and operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical depth and cross functional collaboration. You will be mainly accountable for: Define and govern configurable product solutions by analyzing product and business data, establishing product rules, constraints, data entities, and processes that enable automation and scalable configuration. Partner cross‑functionally with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to develop technically sound, cost‑effective solutions optimized for complexity, configurability, and market requirements. Own product structure and data integrity by managing classifications, BOMs, parts, modules, and related product information across SAP and connected systems using data extraction and validation tools. Lead component and feature realization by determining new component needs, guiding development with R&D and Design, ensuring interface and feature alignment through design reviews, and supporting feature implementation from feasibility through configurable order execution. Qualifications for the role: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, including strong understanding of electric motor products, specifications and manufacturing processes. Proven ability to analyze, transform, and validate complex product and business data, demonstrating strong analytical and structured problem‑solving skills. Working knowledge of SAP (material master, BOMs, classification) and experience managing product data across enterprise systems. Effective cross‑functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering across Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations. Preferred Experience Includes: Familiarity with configurable and modular product architectures, industry standards (NEMA/IEC, UL/CSA/IEEE), and enabling tools such as CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), data analysis platforms (Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python), and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Monday.com).
