Description The City of Fort Myers strives to be an employer of choice and most of our employees turn jobs into long term careers.The salary shown in the job description is the full range for this position from entry to later career.NEW EMPLOYEES ARE HIRED AT, OR NEAR THE ENTRY POINT SHOWN, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.FLSA Status:Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive:NO Level II Screening:NO Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for processing all public records requests in accordance with Florida State Statute.Responsible for data entry into the City's computer system.Enter traffic citations, trespass warnings/authorizations, civil citations, Field Interview Report (FIR) cards, arrest reports, misdemeanor dispositions, offenses, coding for crime and incident reporting databases , and validations.Provide daily transmittals for the traffic citations to the County Clerk's Office.Process traffic crash reports, business license applications, tow applications, and adult entertainment licenses.Perform cashier duties.In addition, the incumbent is responsible for copying, processing, and filing all law enforcement related reports in accordance with Florida Public Records Law to allow for expedient retrieval and access of such reports and correspondence.This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation:Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency.Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency.The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.Duties/Responsibilities Process all public records requests from the media, State Attorney's Office, City Attorney's Office, City of Fort Myers Citizen Police Review Board, law enforcement agencies, state agencies, insurance companies, and any other entities as required.Assist citizens with requests for records and reports associated with law enforcement activity.Maintain mail correspondence and answer telephone requests for records and reports associated with law enforcement activity.Redaction of police reports, documentation, dash camera videos, and body camera videos for release to the public, pursuant to Florida State Statute.Log, enter and check for accuracy of traffic crash reports, offense reports, and arrest reports.Process, file, store, retrieve, and destroy law enforcement-related records and reports and public records requests as required, pursuant to the State of Florida General Records Schedule GS1-SL and GS2.Cashier duties which include receipt of payment for public records requests, special event permit fees, reimbursed expenses, state forfeiture restitution, adult entertainment licenses, etc.by both in person customers and mail customers.Data entry of offense/incident reports, field interview reports, arrest reports, trespass-warning/authorization notices, citations, municipal ordinances, and entries into policy maintenance.Validate reports for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.Coding and completion of Uniform Crime Reports.Compile, enter, and file information for arrest files.Enter tickets, trespasses, and FIR cards.Receive parking tickets from officers and prepare them for Denison Parking Personnel.Handle all transmittals as needed.Assist police officers with report retrieval.Switchboard Operator duties as needed.Responsible for providing assistance in the absence of department staff members.Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.Maybe responsible for maintaining information on City Link May need to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements High School diploma or GED.One (1) year experience in related field; or education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Florida Driver's License with acceptable driving record Criminal Justice In Service (CJIS) Full Access, at the time of hire, or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of being duty assignment changes.Criminal Justice In Service (CJIS) Security Awareness Training at time of hire, or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.External applicants must submit to a complete background investigation including fingerprint check and polygraph (lie detector).Physical Demands and Working Conditions This work typically requires the following physical activities to be performed.Balancing - maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching.Climbing - ascending, descending ladders, stairs, ramps, requires body agility.Reaching - extending hands
