Company Description The Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) is an independent government agency dedicated to providing comprehensive parks and recreation services to the Vallejo community. Managing over 407 acres of public park space, including neighborhood and community parks, special purpose parks, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and community centers, GVRD serves over 120,000 residents annually. Funded through local resources, fees, and grants, the district supports new park developments and ongoing maintenance. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role located in Vallejo, CA, for a Recreation Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator will design, implement, and oversee recreation programs and activities for individuals and groups of all ages. Responsibilities include organizing outdoor recreation events, managing aquatics-related programs, supervising staff, ensuring program quality and safety, and regularly communicating with participants and community members. Additional duties may involve collaborating with other departments to best meet community needs and promoting ongoing program participation. Qualifications Strong skills and experience in Recreation and Outdoor Recreation Proficiency in Supervisory Skills and staff management Knowledge and experience in Aquatics programming and safety protocols Excellent Communication skills for interacting with participants and staff Demonstrated ability to organize events and programs Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, or Lifeguard Training are highly desirable Familiarity with community-based recreation and park services is a plus
