About Us:Job Summary The Regional Mechanical Operations Director supports operating companies (OPCOs) within the mechanical segment by assisting in the coordination, visibility, and improvement of operational performance. The individual will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer and OPCO leadership teams to strengthen execution discipline, support leadership transitions, and improve operational predictability—without taking control of local operations. The role is grounded in the company’s philosophy: Operating companies are led locally. The segment supports, aligns, and strengthens performance. ECS HQ is based out of McLean, Virginia. However, candidates in other locations and meeting the requirements below may be considered. Compensation Range: $200,000 - $250,000 This position is bonus eligible. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. OpCo Operational Support: Assist SVP Operations in supporting OPCO performance across assigned region Participate in operating reviews and project discussions Help identify execution risks and improvement opportunities Support implementation of operational discipline (project controls, productivity, planning) Travel up to 40-60% Performance Visibility & Coordination: Develop familiarity with key projects, backlog, and operational drivers across OPCOs Track performance indicators such as: Project execution trends Productivity signals Schedule adherence Provide structured updates to SVP Operations Leadership Support & Development: Build relationships with OPCO leadership teams Support new CEO or operations leader transitions Assist Strategic Development Leader in onboarding alignment Learn how to coach and influence without authority Enterprise Initiative Support Assist in coordinating enterprise initiatives including: Preconstruction discipline improvements Procurement strategies Project execution enhancements Technology and AI adoption Help translate enterprise initiatives into practical OPCO actions Acquisition & Integration Exposure: Support SVP Operations in acquisition integration efforts Assist in understanding operational maturity of new businesses Learn integration frameworks and expectations Professional Development Expectations: Exposure to multiple OPCO business models Participation in leadership decision-making Coaching from Operations Leadership Increasing responsibility in operational reviews and support Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position Requirements/Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or related areas of study or field experience; and minimum of 7-10 years Mechanical Construction experience. Prior experience in one or more: Project Management, Field Operations, Estimating/Preconstruction, Fabrication/Prefabrication. Experience must include: Exposure to multiple project types preferred (commercial, industrial, mission critical). Broad understanding of Mechanical Contracting business. Proven track record of leading projects while maintaining a commitment to Ethics and Safety. Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications. Experience with Accubid, Procore, Bluebeam or other construction software. Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.
