Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies. Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants or fluoride treatments under the dentist’s supervision. Maintain accurate and detailed medical and dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix. Ensure strict infection control protocols are followed, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records, and assist in medical coding for billing purposes. Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized care tailored to children’s needs while practicing four-handed dentistry for efficiency. Requirements Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry and dental office settings; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR systems is preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Ability to perform patient care tasks including dental assisting, chairside assisting, taking medical imaging, and vital signs measurement. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with the dental team.
