5 South is a 22-bed medical telemetry unit that cares for young adults through geriatric patients with a wide range of medical needs. Our team supports patients who may require telemetry monitoring for conditions such as metabolic disorders, stable cardiovascular issues, renal concerns, GI bleeds, substance-withdrawal management, diabetes, and various respiratory conditions. In addition, 5 South is the dedicated unit for all peritoneal dialysis patients in the hospital and also provides care for patients receiving plasmapheresis. Patients are placed on the unit based on their admitting diagnosis to ensure they receive the most appropriate level of care from the start. Full-Time - 0.9 FTE/72 Hours Biweekly Day Night Rotation; 6 night minimum in a 6 week schedule Day Shift - 7am-7pm Night Shift - 7pm-7am Every 3rd Weekend; 1 Major, 1 Minor and 1 Split Holiday Eligible for Shift Differential & Sign-On Bonus General Summary Provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
