Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Preoperative Discipline: RN Duration: Ongoing 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Staff Job Shift: Days /n Job Type: Full Time /n Professional registered nurse gives direct and indirect specialized nursing care to patients while preparing for intra-operative experience. The nurse in the pre-op role coordinates the care of the patient and is the patient advocate throughout the pre-operative experience. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications 1. Florida R.N. licensure 2. Basic Life Support Minimum Experience One year med/surgical experience preferred Physical Requirements - Requires walking and standing during most of the time on duty. Frequent reaching, handling of equipment and supplies. Speaking and hearing essential for relaying of information, receiving doctors orders. Visual acuity required to work with records and equipment. Frequently lifting 30-50 pounds/ repositioning of patients. Are to push stretchers to the OR room with patients in attendance to facilitate efficient time management. Works beyond scheduled tour of duty in an emergency. Maintains a state of health adequate to perform the duties of the job. Possible contact to moving mechanical parts. Required to make decisions and concentrate – continuously. Exposure to temperature extremes – moderate. Work environment lighting and noise - varies. Exposed to stressful and traumatic situations.
