Job Details Title: Real Estate Lending - Specialist / Mortgage Underwriter Start Date: 5/26/2026 or 6/1/2026 Shift (Time): 8:00am - 4:30pm (local time) Overtime: Available when there is a business need Working arrangement: Fully Remote Job Type & Location: Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey City, Nlities Extensive Mortgage Underwriting or Loan Processing experience; analyze loans to make valid recommendations. True underwriting experience, including calculating income and/or VA SAR. Ability to conduct manual underwriting. Handle daily case loads (300–400 per day), identify loans that can clear, and pass them to higher-level underwriters. Review documentation against company, NCUA, USPAP, and all relevant industry loan acceptance guidelines. Review contracts related to real estate, such as age restrictions, HOAs, etc. Work closely with loan originators and processors to ensure all appropriate data is obtained. Collaborate with Mortgage leadership and mentor Mortgage Processors, Closers, and Loan Officers. Maintain current knowledge of all company mortgage products and changes to guidelines affecting processing. Qualifications and Skills At least 1 year of Mortgage Underwriting experience. Knowledgeable of the Mortgage Industry. Familiar with agency guidelines (Fannie, Freddie, VA). Ability to adapt quickly. Strong decision‑making skills. Comfortable with DU conditions. Ability to calculate income and review CBRs. Experience in a production‑based environment. Conventional, FHA, VA, desktop underwriter/processing experience (certifications preferred, not required). Pay range listed is based on years of experience. Salary & Pay Pay range for this position is $22.02 - $39.93 per hour. Benefits Medical, dental & vision.
