Job Description & Requirements Remote Outpatient Coder StartDate: 6/1/2026 Pay Rate: $28.00 - $35.00 POSITION : Remote Outpatient Coder - ED/Ancillary DEPARTMENT : Health Information Management START: 06/01/26 or ASAP LOCATION : Remote POSITION SUMMARY: Looking for candidates with Facility Acute Care Outpatient experience who will focus on coding ED/Ancillary- ED accounts to include Injection/Infusion and facility E/M. This is an advanced-level coding position that codes and abstracts Outpatient Ancillary and ED records for data retrieval, analysis, reimbursement, and research. Codes and enters ICD-10, CPT, Procedures (PCS), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), applicable Modifiers, as well as other specialty systems as required by diagnostic category, All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and organizational/institutional coding guidelines. Meets quality and productivity coding standards and demonstrates the ability to navigate an EMR. They work with TrueCode encoder and Dolby CAC, Leaders are open to train someone on Dolby if they don't have experience. Supervisor – Coding Manager Supervises – N/A Position Duties Using ICD-10-PCS/CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, NCCI, and Coding Modifiers, and Medical Necessity Edits. Assigns, validates, and/or edits codes for the following patient types: Coding facility Outpatient ED/Ancillary accounts - ED accounts including Injection/Infusion and facility E/M. Maintains or exceeds established accuracy standards Reviews all official data quality standards, coding guidelines, Company policies and procedures, and clinical/medical resources to assure coding knowledge and skills remain current Utilizes the complete medical record documentation in code assignment, validation, and/or editing of codes Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Coding Technical skills- ICD-10-PCS/CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, NCCI, and Coding Modifiers, and Medical Necessity Edits. Ability to code proficiently facility Outpatient Ancillary and ED accounts of all kinds. ED will include Injection/Infusion, and facility E/M. Organization – establishing courses of action to ensure that work is completed efficiently; proactively prioritizes assignments and keen ability to multi-task Customer orientation - establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations Policies & Procedures - articulates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems PC skills - demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required Analytical skills – effective evaluation, synthesis and use of information gathered Quality Orientation – accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time Work Independently – is self-supporting; not needing to rely on others to complete a job Position Requirements Remote Workstation – Dual Monitors Standard Window PC Internet Access with DSL or Cable VPN compatibility Microsoft Office/Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point Minimum Required Qualifications Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4-year acute care Outpatient Ancillary and ED coding experience required with 1 year of Academic Level I Trauma experience Proficient with Facilities Coding Standards. CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, COC, CPC Credentials required by client. Demonstrate intermediate technical coding competency in ICD-10-PCS/CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, NCCI, and Coding Modifiers, and Medical Necessity Edits. Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries Must be technically savvy. Working Hours Needed M – F 8hrs per day, 40hrs a week, during standard business hours Eastern Hours Flexible hours during training and prebill review process Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: TBD based on experience but very competitive Health & Dental PTO, Sick Time, 6 paid holidays 401K, Weekly Pay AMN Healthcare Revenue C
