Job Description
JOB SUMMARY Administer the medication and treatments of residents. Provide direct care to residents. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists residents daily with: bathing, dressing, grooming, dental care, ambulation, and incontinence management; preparation for medical tests and exams; ear and eye care; and transferring into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, etc. Responds promptly to facility resident call system. Provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor, including vital signs; measures and records temperature, pulse, and respirations; weighs and measures residents; performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures; observes and reports presence of skin breakdowns; reviews care plans daily; reports changes in resident conditions to supervisor; records all necessary charting entries; and reports all accidents and incidents. Assists with serving meals, setup and clean up dining room; reminds/assists residents to meals and activities; assists in and performs before and after meal resident care. Performs routine patient care in accordance with Federal, State, Company and Center nursing policies and procedures. Employs preventative and restorative measures. Prepares and administers the right medications to the right patient at the right time in the right dosage by the right route. Documents in MAR each dose administered per facility policy. Ensures that clinical observations are made prior to and after medications as indicated. Ensures that adequate nutritional and fluid intake is provided. Assist residents as needed. Assist in resident admission, discharge and transfer as instructed. Complies with safety policies and procedures. Uses equipment correctly and safely during the performance of direct patient care and medication preparation. Assist as directed in proper admission, transfer, and discharge of residents; reports medications found in residents’ rooms; and reports defective equipment to administration. Understands and uses Centers for Disease Control and Preventative (CDC) Standard Precautions, OSHA’s Occupational Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens standard, and follows established infection control, hazardous communication, and other safety rules; ensures cleanliness of residents’ rooms and promptly reports all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor. Attends and participates in orientation, training, educational activities, and staff meetings. Follows hand washing techniques and other infection control guidelines during the performance of patient care. Reports promptly any change of patient condition or other concerns to Resident Care Coordinator.. Follows charting guidelines. Reports medication reorder, etc. Inventory drugs, on the designated forms, as they arrive. Adheres to Company standards for consumer concerns. Maintains confidentiality of resident clinical and personal information. Reports concerns and refers patients, family visitors to appropriate management. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current Medication Aide/Medication Tech certification in good standing in the state the facility is located Ability to communicate effectively Basic computer skills We Own It!.
