Job Description The Department of Surgery has an outstanding opportunity for multiple Temporary Research Assistants to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Research Study Coordinator Lead, the Research Assistant assists in the operations of research studies for the Department of Surgery, HMC Trauma, Burn & Critical Care Division at Harborview Medical Center. This involves coordinating and monitoring subject participation; obtaining subject samples and performing the required procedures for sample preparation and data collection; monitoring and managing the program database. Positions cover as needed and over 24 hours. Hours are variable. Key Responsibilities Research Study Coordination – 50% Have knowledge of the inclusion/exclusion criteria for the study. Identify possible subject enrollment in a timely manner. Use of Epic for subject screening, monitoring and obtaining medical information. Communicate with the hospital personnel on possible procedures and treatments that will affect the subject’s enrollment Communicate with patients and/or family members to provide an explanation of the study and consent form Communicate with lead Research Study Coordinator and/or Research Manager on subject enrollment. Management of Study Data – 50% Maintain adherence to research protocols and verify accuracy of research study data. Accurately enter patient information into the database. Have knowledge of the database descriptors and categories. Assist in the design and maintenance of the study database. This position performs essential services and may be required to work during any period of declared suspended operation. Minimum Qualifications Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience. Additional Qualifications Proficient in using Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of Epic Experience in an inpatient setting with trauma patients BA Degree in relevant field Working Conditions This position is 100% on-site The position’s work is located at HMC This position will work in an inpatient setting trauma patients May need to work evening and night hours as required by study.
