Job Description
As a Research Technician, you will work closely with the Quality Manager, R&D Department, and Production Department across multiple operational and laboratory functions to collect samples, test material, perform inspections, and inventory product and other items, along with other tasks. II. Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Collect production samples from production floor and perform required inspections. Immediately notify the appropriate production personnel and management of all out of specification conditions pertaining to inspected samples. Maintain the required retain samples of products and materials. Maintain records of data collected according to all procedures, requirements, and regulations. Clean and maintain all lab equipment Ensure lab and all equipment is kept clean and in working order Work and communicate with interdepartmental and intradepartmental personnel and management as necessary in a professional manner. Assist with collecting samples of and/or all defective unprocessed material for return to the supplier. Assist with making new documents and forms. Monitoring laboratory supply inventories and reporting low quantities to the proper personnel for replenishing supplies. Perform new material performance analysis as necessary. Assist with developing new test methods. Assist with R&D as necessary. Adhere to all lab and department rules, policies, and procedures. Other duties as assigned. III. Essential Skills and Experience: Education or Equivalent: (Minimum required to perform job) Prior GMP production experience preferred. Previous experience with instrumental chemistry preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent. Knowledge/Skills Requirements: Familiarity with basic scientific principles and production terminology. Read and follow manuals for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Basic math skills. Quick to learn processes and follow instructions to carry out tasks Ability to work independently Understanding of basic manufacturing concepts Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals. Familiarity with GMP regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees. Highly detail oriented and organized. Good written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and dependability toward assigned tasks and duties. Strong ethics and sound judgment. IV. Physical Requirements and Safety Considerations of the Position: Physical Requirements Individual may be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, including walking to multiple buildings across the BVS campus. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently. Work Schedule Shifts of 8 or 10 hours in duration, subject to change with advance notice given. Essential Physical Job Tasks Operate testing equipment while following safety parameters Data entry and use of computer user interface tools including mouse, keyboard and any other applicable instruments. Setting up workstation for minimal ergonomic risk factors as deemed necessary. Lifting and operating in a manufacturing environment. Lifting overhead and reaching with up to 30 lbs. May be required to lift to 45 lbs and /or push up to 50 lbs. Safety Considerations: Must follow any applicable plant safety requirements. Must follow all food safety protocols, and identify, and report all potential food safety issues to the appropriate member(s) of management. Environmental Conditions: Working conditions will be climate controlled.
