Residential Specialist Compensation $18.00 to $19.50 per hour Location Nebraska Neurobehavioral Services, Inc. (NNBS) About Nebraska Neurobehavioral Services, Inc. Position Summary The Residential Specialist serves as a direct care professional responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and daily support of youth residing within our therapeutic residential program. This position plays a vital role in maintaining structure, modeling appropriate behaviors, and creating a positive and therapeutic living environment. Residential Specialists are expected to utilize trauma-informed approaches, maintain professionalism during crisis situations, and actively contribute to each youth’s treatment and development goals. Available Shifts First Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Second Shift: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Third Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment consistent with NNBS policies and procedures. Supervise youth throughout daily routines, including hygiene, meals, school responsibilities, recreation, appointments, and community activities. Utilize trauma-informed care, behavioral support strategies, and de-escalation techniques when addressing behaviors or crisis situations. Complete accurate and timely documentation regarding behaviors, incidents, interventions, medications, transportation, and daily activities within the electronic documentation system. Support individualized treatment plans, behavioral plans, and safety plans in collaboration with clinical, case management, and leadership teams. Facilitate and participate in individual and group skill-building activities focused on communication, emotional regulation, life skills, and personal responsibility. Transport youth to appointments, school, recreational activities, and community-based services as assigned. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, supervision sessions, and interdisciplinary treatment team discussions. Maintain professional boundaries while building positive and supportive relationships with youth. Remain attentive, engaged, and responsive for the entirety of assigned shifts. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, behavioral science, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience working with youth in residential care, behavioral health, juvenile services, or a related setting strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance required. Ability to successfully pass criminal background checks, child abuse and neglect registry checks, and drug screening requirements. Ability to complete physical tasks associated with the position, including standing, walking, lifting, and responding during crisis interventions. Preferred Skills and Competencies Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and behavioral health interventions. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with documentation.
