The Position Bargaining Unit: Local 856 - Health Services Unit Respiratory Care Practitioner II RE-ANNOUNCEMENT*** Why Join Contra Costa Health? We provide services through nine operational areas: Behavioral Health, Contra Costa Health Plan, Emergency Medical Services, Environmental Health, Hazardous Materials, Health, Housing & Homeless Services, Public Health, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center & Health Centers and Detention Health. The Contra Costa Health Department has a need to fill one (1) Full-Time Respiratory Care Practitioner II position within the Pulmonary Function Lab. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future openings for up to 6 months. Respiratory Care Practitioner II is a journey-level position that requires experience providing respiratory care treatment to patients in an acute care hospital and ambulatory health centers. Employees in this class administer therapy and life support to patients while assisting in making patient assessments for the purpose of establishing individual respiratory care plans. They also clean, assemble, and transport respiratory equipment as requested. Respiratory Care Practitioner II may also operate diagnostic and therapeutic equipment as well as electrocardiograph machines on a relief basis and/or provide work direction to other staff. Has the ability to perform assessments, develop care plans, and implement treatments. Can collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best patient outcomes. Is capable of educating patients and families on respiratory care techniques and health maintenance. Possesses strong clinical skills and a compassionate approach to patient care Exhibits excellent communication and teamwork abilities What You Will Typically Be Responsible For Assessing patients' respiratory conditions and developing appropriate care plans. Performing respiratory treatments and procedures such as oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and airway management. Monitoring patients' progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Educating patients and their families on managing respiratory conditions and using respiratory equipment. Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records. Coordinating care plans and adjusting treatments as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
