Job Description
Manchester Memorial Hospital, part of Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN), is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across a variety of acute and subacute settings, including emergency, critical care, medical-surgical, and outpatient areas. You will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory therapies such as oxygen administration, aerosol and bronchodilator therapy, chest physiotherapy, and non-invasive and invasive ventilator management. You will perform and interpret diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, pulmonary function-related testing within your scope, and bedside respiratory assessments, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans. The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will respond to respiratory-related emergencies and rapid responses, including code situations, assisting with airway management, intubation support, and stabilization of patients in respiratory distress. You will ensure accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses within the electronic medical record, maintaining compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. A key part of this role involves educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, use of inhalers and home equipment, smoking cessation support, and disease management for conditions such as COPD, asthma, and pneumonia. Aligned with ECHN’s culture of compassionate care and strong community focus, you will contribute to a supportive, collaborative environment, actively participating in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice. You will help precept and mentor new staff and students when assigned, and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current clinical competencies and certifications. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with a diverse patient population while advancing your respiratory therapy skills in a hospital setting that values teamwork, respect, and a commitment to improving patient health outcomes. By joining Manchester Memorial Hospital, you will be part of a community-oriented organization that promotes professional growth, continuous learning, and meaningful involvement in initiatives that enhance respiratory care services and community health.
