About us Chilmark General Store - a historic general store located on Martha's Vineyard is a fast-paced retail market and take-out restaurant.Our goal is simple:To make our customer's experience the best it can be! We pride ourselves on being a community market where you can shop for fresh local produce and products, a wide variety of specialty foods, gifts and gear, everyday basics, and much more.We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals for Retail Stock Associate positions for the 2026 season.We are open May through October.Shift meal provided.Housing available for qualified full-time employees.The Retail Stock team maintains the eclectic/historic, yet super clean and organized feel of our store.Daily activities include stocking grocery and cooler shelves, rotating product inventory, maintaining store cleanliness, and retail presentation.You will also interact with customers providing valuable information about our store and product availability in a friendly professional manner. Responsibilities Properly receive deliveries following all procedures and prepare items for sale. Stock all retail grocery shelves & coolers.This includes rotating product inventory, maintaining merchandise displays, executing proper labeling and pricing. Greet customers, offering them shopping baskets, answering questions for them, and offering assistance in a friendly, professional manner. Take physical inventory to ensure accurate counts of products to assist in product ordering and maintain stock levels following all procedures. Maintain store presentation:regularly clean designated areas inside the store, porch area, loading dock, and all outside grounds. Maintain all storage areas including dry goods, refrigerated, frozen by keeping them clean, organized, and rotated. Follow store procedures for opening & closing the store every morning and evening. Make informed suggestions to customers and suggest additional and complimentary items.Be knowledgeable of products and up to date on store policies.We are looking for candidates who are hard-working, friendly, and can multitask effectively. Requirements: Should be comfortable speaking to customers and working with a team. Ability to lift 40 lbs. Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation. Desire to learn, & positive attitude. Experience in retail, grocery, or food service environments or similar experience a plus but we have can train new workers for entry level position. Attention to detail and merchandising experience a plus. Ability to work independently.
